Can't Uninstall SQL Server 2005 Express Tools

$

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Trial and receive the follow error during installation.

"The SQL Server 2005 Express Tools are installed. To continue, remove the SQL Server 2005 Express Tools."

I have used Add or Remove programs to remove all components of SQL Server 2005 Express.  I have even reinstalled the Workstation Tools of SQL Server 2005 just so I could indiviually remove those tools, and then completly removed the SQL 2005 installation.

I have used regedit to search for any instance of SQL Server 2005, there is none.

There is still an entry for SQL Server Mangement Express in my all programs listing.  However trying to launch that program fails with errors, so it is partial still installed.

Can anyone tell me how to wipe out these last bits of SQL Server 2005 Express Tools?  I have tried everything I have found searching this forum to no avail.

msiexec.exe processes keep running after installation of SQL Server 2012 SP1

Hello,

I just installed SQL Server 2012 SP1 on top of the RTM. The installation completed without any errors and everything seemed OK until I noticed that my machine was using almost 100% constantly. When looking at the processes, I noticed 2 msiexec.exe processes which were running. Sometimes one of them disappears but half a minute later, it's back.

When I look in the Eventlog, the following warnings are logged repeatedly:

EventId: 1004
Source: MsiInstaller
Description: Detection of product '{A7037EB2-F953-4B12-B843-195F4D988DA1}', feature 'SQL_Tools_Ans', Component '{0CECE655-2A0F-4593-AF4B-EFC31D622982}' failed. The resource'' does not exist.

EventId: 1001
Source: MsiInstaller
Description: Detection of product '{A7037EB2-F953-4B12-B843-195F4D988DA1}', feature 'SQL_Tools_Ans' failed during request for component '{6E985C15-8B6D-413D-B456-4F624D9C11C2}'

I have installed SQL Server together with SharePoint 2013 RTM on the same machine and the following components have been installed:

- Database engine
- Management Tools (Complete)
- Reporting Services (SharePoint Integrated mode)
- Reporting Services Add-In for SharePoint
- SQL Client Connectivity SDK

I had the same issue with SP1 CTP4 on 3 completely different machines (all SharePoint 2013 machines)!! After uninstalling the SP1, the msiexec processes are gone and the CPU settles down and goes back to the normal load.

Any pointers are appreciated...  since this SP1 adds a lot of BI features for SharePoint 2013, I really need this.

Thanks,

Bart

SQL server 2005 comparability mode

Hi there,

Dont know if this is the right forum for this... anyways

We are planning to move our DB running on SQL 2000 to 2005. I am aware that by default, db attached to 2005 from 2000 are in 80 compatibility mode...

I wanted to know If someone has used the DB in this mode? are there any major problems associated, or risks of running a DB in 2000 compatibility except the exemption of some of the 2005 features?

Also is it still possible to purchase Windows server 2003 R2 Datacenter edition

Thanks

Saad

There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer

when trying to install SQL 2008 R2 SP1 I get the error “There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer”.
What I have: SQL 2008 R2 64bit (version 10.50.2500) installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit setup in a two-node failover cluster.
What I have done: Downloaded SQLServer2008R2SP1-KB2528583-x64-ENU.exe, ran it, the “System Configuration Check Report” shows all checks passed except for the “Engine_ResourceDLLUPdateRestartCheck” which it shows as “Not applicable”, I click next and check “I accept…” then click next.  Both check boxes are grayed out, but are pre-checked.  When I click “next” it gives the error above.
Possible Unknows: Another coworker is also working on the same project and could have installed something that I am not aware of.
I have seen numerous articles about this error, but they almost all have to do with the improper version of 32 versus 64 bit.  I have double checked to make sure its Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit and SQL 2008 R2 64bit.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 then CU7-CU9?

$

Greetings,

SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1.  We have a Reporting Services issue (KB2522708) that is addressed in CU7.  When we try to apply CU7, it eventually reaches the point where it says:  "There are no SQL Server instances or shared features that can be updated on this computer."

One of the 3 different systems we've tried it on also said:  "The version of SQL Server instance Shared Component does not match the version expected by the SQL Server update.  The installed SQL Server product version is 10.51.2500.0, and the expected SQL Server version is 10.50.1600.1."

We then tried CU9 on one of the systems, but received the first message.

Can CU7 through CU9 be applied to a system at version 10.51.2500?  Seems odd that I would have to deinstall SP1 to be able to install CU7?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hello everyone I am installing the new infrastructure SCCM 2012 configured as follows:

A primary site with all roles
A database server SQL 2012 Standard R2 Sp1

During the installation of SQL 2012 I had some problems and I tried to run the first part of the installation of SQL 2008 (for testing the connection of domain users that start the service). After solving I started the installation of SQL 2012, everything successfully.

I'm trying to install SCCM 2012 connecting to my remote SQL instance but it generates the following error:

Why does this happen? Might have been some info on SQL 2008?

Thank to all

SQL services wont start due to incorrect drive letter after windows restore

Had a server crash, was successfully able to reinstall windows and restore the server SQL and all the necessary services were already installed.

Only problem the windows drives letters are wrong. So the services are pointed to the incorrect drive letter. I cant change the services in regedit or change the drive letter in disk management. Is there a way to do a repair in SQL add remove programs to associate's the necessary services with the correct drive letter?

Here's a example of the services
Path to executable
I:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\

only problem the actual drive letter is E:

Where can I get a product key from MSDN subscription for SQL Server 2012 edition upgrade?

Hi,

We have a Bizpark MSDN subscription and when we started a new project we installed SQL Server instances on 3 different machines as Evaluation edition as we were unsure of which edition we would need. Now we have decided to upgrade to Business Intelligence edition but we actually do not have any product keys because the MSDN subcription only provides an ISO with a pre-registered key.

So where can I find a product key to upgrade the SQL Server 2012 edition?

Thank you.

SQL server 2000 64bit Setup Error

$

Dear all,

We are planning to Migrate SQL environment from one DB server to Another...

Current Environment:

Itanium based server, 250 GB RAM,

Windows server 2003 Datacenter edition (64)

SQL server 2000 64bit ... Configured Memory utilization to use full 250 GB

New Environment

Xeon 7500 Processor family

350 GB RAM

Windows server 2003 Datacenter edition

My Question:

To my knowledge... sql server 2000 64 bit is only released for Itanium right?, which means i wont be able to install the sql 2000 64bit on the new environment?

So now... If  I install the 32 bit version of sql server 2000.... is it possible to configure sql to utilize for e.g. 250 GB RAM? given that its supported by the OS? .....

Thanks

Saad

I am trying to create an installer that will first install all required prerequisites, if necessary (.NET 3.5, Windows Installler 4.5, Powershell 1.0), restart the computer if required, then continue with a silent installation of SQL Server 2008r2. VS 2010 Ultimate w/SP1 Connecting to SQL 2012 Developer Edition

Hi, folks.

After installing the latest (December, 2012) SSDT Tools for VS 2010, and ensuring that VS 2010 SP1 is installed, I am still not able to open a database's stored procedure via the VS 2010 Server Explorer window. I get the error message that only servers up to SQL Server 2008 are supported.

Simple question: Will the VS 2010 Server Explorer window no longer be supported to edit/debug SQL Server database objects as I could with SQL 2008 R2 and earlier?

As well, should .NET developers instead be using the SQL Server Object Explorer window?

NOTE: I also have VS 2012 Ultimate with its latest SSDT Tools installed. Do the two versions (VS 2010 & VS 2012) of SSDT on the same machine clash with one another?

Thank you for any advice!

Best wishes, Davin Mickelson

SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Option grayed on setup screen

Hi,

i Need to get Reporting Server installed on a SQL 2005 Standard x64 Server with SP2.

When i get to the instalation screen the Reporting server option is grayed out.

i Also get this version:

- Edition Change Check (Warning)

Messages

·Edition Change Check

To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a different edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter.

Is this due to service packs that is installed?

i Tried changing the app pool default from true to false in IIS but no luck,

How do i get around this?

How do i run the  SKUUPGRADE=1 if i only want to add reporting services or is there another way?
